HELP SAVE THE BALTIMORE EDGAR ALLAN POE HOUSE
7 Feb 2011
As of July 2010 the City of Baltimore cut the funds for the Poe House curator position and other expenses for the Poe House. The City Finance Department instructed the Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation, a division of the Department of Planning, to develop a business plan to make the Poe House and Museum self sustaining.
For Baltimore's Edgar Allan Poe House to remain open, officials there have 18 months to find a way to operate it without city money. But the museum's long-time curator said yesterday that he's not confident that deadline can be met.
WE ARE GOING TO LOSE A BIG PART OF LITERARY HISTORY!
We have started an online petition addressed to Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to draw her attention to how many of us would like her to reconsider the decision to cut funding for the Poe House in Baltimore. Please feel free to pass it along by:
1.copying and pasting it to your websites with a link to the petition
2. Facebook
3. Twitter
4. Blogs
and any other social networking that you do.
